The Choice

Like many of you, carving out some time for myself during my manic week is a pretty difficult thing...okay to be truthful its damn near impossible - especially as of late. And on the rare occasion that I do snag some of that precious spare time, its a staggering effort to choose what to do with my time.

  • Do I go out with the friends I haven't seen in forever?

  • Do I go out with the hubby to watch a movie that I've been dying to see?

  • Do I go out to dinner?

  • Do I stay in and Read?

  • Do I stay in and Write?

  • If write, what story should I choose?

It's extremely aggrivating - so much so that I get to the point where I can't settle on one thing and end up not doing anything fruitful!! Aggrivation city, people. Aggrivation city. So my question for you fine peeps is...DOES THIS HAPPEN TO YOU???!

And if so how do you deal?

Reading is always my fallback, when all other plans fall through or friends are late to a meeting, etc. The rest, I rotate (though not movies with your hubby, that might piss you off.)

For me, writing usually wins. I can't help myself. As far as what to write, I go with whichever story is nagging me the most. (Nagging in a good way of course!)

Beverly - hahaha. yeah...but your not missing out. He doesn't share his popcorn. :D

The problem I have is a great desire to read and write. So its like aggonizing to decide between the two.

Kelly - I hear ya! About the nagging. :D I think the problem I have with the writing is the focus. If there are other things that I'm being distracted by, I can't write very well.

Generally, I'll choose between a book or a movie.

Renee - I love both as well.

I feel like I'm running around like a headless chicken lately - when I find my head, I'll try to answer your question ;-)

Yes! with a day job to pay the bills and kids and husband, I face the same thing. I decided a couple years ago that writing needed to have dedicated time and lots of it, so that usually wins at the expense of laundry, dinner, and lots of other things. But I find I have to make a point to also dedicate time to family and friends, because that is ultimately more important than we realize in the busy moment.
