So I've decided that a perfect test for how great a book is, is if you smuggle it in your purse so you can read it (in peace) while you wait in the parent pick-up line at your child's school. If the teacher opens the door to put your kiddo in the back and you get startled by the interuption.
So here's the question of the day,
What was the last GREAT book you've read?

I've been reading Lisa Hendrix's Immortal Brotherhood series, and am currently REreading Immortal Champion.
If I really like a book, I read it twice - once fast, for the flow and the flavor, and then the second time more slowly, to savor it.
If a books is so-so, I may finish it just to see if it gets better, or put it aside and maybe try again later, thinking maybe it's me and my mood. But I have learned now if I am dislking a book, to LET IT GO, not force myself to finish it. Not enough time in the world to read GREAT books, let alone crappy ones.
Beverly - OH! I have the same problem. I can't just not know how a story ends! Even if I stop reading it or decide I don't want to read the rest of the series, I will go online and find out how it ends. Hahaha. I'm nurotic in that way.
I very rarely just stop a book mid way thru though. So it has to be bad.
I loved Hex Hall and I'm just finishing Beautiful Creatures and that's great, too.
I loved "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. I am still thinking about it. It's written in the style of the old novels like Wuthering Heights. There is a dark mystery to it and the "heroine" is a writer :-)
Kelly - those two have been on my TBR list for a while but I haven't gotten around to them yet. I heard Hex Hall was full of snarky goodness so I'm kind of eager to read that first. :)
Michael Ann - That one I haven't heard of yet! I will definately have to check it out because it sounds right up my ally. :)
The Book Thief by Makus Zuzak.
