Carpe Diem

So I've got a couple of bloggy type items to cover today. :) First off is the IFYD. I broke open the playlist for my first manuscript yesterday, and found this one. I haven't heard it in a long time but I love it. For me, it’s all about seizing your day while you can because life moves fast my friends!

Secondly, I received the lovely - Versatile Blogger Award - from the fabulously ostentatious Stacey! I will have to completely the rest of the award requirements this weekend unfortunately. But Thanks Stacey! Tis much appreciated.

And finally here's a discussion starter that just hit me this morning. How many of you writers out there have genre that really unnerves you?

The reason I ask is because I came up with a story idea for a political drama but it is freaking me out thinking about writing it. I guess I feel like the expectations that are associated with a political drama are completely different then those of a paranormal romance. Although in the same respect, it feels really exciting to have a completely unfamiliar territory to dive into. Know what I mean?

So what do you guys think?

Carpe diem... I write non-fiction but after just signing my first book contract and now having to write it - well, I'm really scared. Reality has hit. So, thanks for the inspiration and good luck to you!

Congrats Meryl! That's great news. I hope you all the best. :)

The butterflies in your stomach helps you know you're alive. Just jump in with both feet and don't look back!!

Many people thrive on challenge. I sometimes get nervous but often say to myself (in any given scenario): "What's the worst thing that could happen?" Usually after I realise that the worst thing is really not that bad I'm fine to step forward. Good luck!

Being "freaked out" by an idea is always a good sign in my book. :D Congrats on your award!

Elizabeth - I'm not sure the writing of it is what unnerves me. Its the "is this good enough?" thoughts. Can I write in this genre as well as I write the one(s) I feel comfortable with.
But I guess I won't know until I try. :)

Sam - yeah I'd have to agree with you on that. Breaking your comfort zone is usually a good way to spice up your writing.

Ditto on the award!
